MASC® and SPART®, unlike common codecs such as AMR, G.729, G.723.1 etc., are high performance speech processing solutions based on not only variable bit rate voice compression, but also a suite of noise reduction and voice quality enhancement techniques. This means that MASC® and SPART® automatically and dynamically adjust the bit rate based on the energy present in any speech sample. MASC® and SPART® compresses those parts of the utterance which contain background noises, silence or transients by allocating fewer bits, while preserving sections of fuller speech with more detail in order to provide the highest quality.
